"Last Few Weeks I've Been Itching To Get Back Into The Dressing Room" - James Anderson Excited About England's Turnaround In Tests
England pacer James Anderson said that he couldn’t wait to get back into the dressing room with the team following an incredible run in Test cricket of late under the new captain-coach duo of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum.
Stokes’ men have strung together a 4-match win streak at home by playing entertaining and aggressive cricket. They chased down targets in excess of 250 in all four games and will now take on South Africa in a 3-match Test series starting on Wednesday.
“I’ve been itching to get back in the dressing room to be honest. Those four Tests were incredible. Obviously what we did on the field was great, but the energy in the dressing room was brilliant.”
“I felt as happy as I have done in an England dressing room for a number of years, so the last five weeks I’ve just been itching to get back in there,” Anderson said on Monday.
“We can chase anything down and take wickets in any conditions” – James Anderson
Anderson is confident about the team’s chances no matter the result of the toss. Additionally, he said that they’re not one-track-minded in their thirst for aggression but can also play out long-drawn periods, as has been the norm in Tests.
“I don’t think it has to come unstuck at all. If we keep working hard at what we’re doing we now know we’ve got the ability to chase anything down and we’ve got the ability to take wickets in any conditions.”
“There may be times when we can’t go hell for leather with the bat and maybe we have to soak up a bit of pressure at times and just be smart about when we put pressure back on the opposition,” he added.
“I think if we add that into our already entertaining mindset and be proactive and aggressive in the nature we play I think we can keep doing it,” Anderson concluded.
