Rohit Sharma paid a heartfelt tribute to former India men's fielding coach T Dilip after the latter's stint with the national team officially came to an end. The former India captain, who is not very active on social media, took to Instagram to acknowledge Dilip's contribution behind the scenes.
Sharing a picture with the outgoing fielding coach on his Instagram story, Rohit Sharma described T Dilip as a "legend" and thanked him for the impact he made within the Indian dressing room during his time with the team.
T Dilip parts ways with Team India
T Dilip's association with the Indian men's team has officially ended after the BCCI decided not to extend his contract. He first joined the national setup as India's fielding coach in 2021 and remained with the side until the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
He later returned for a one-year stint during India's Test tour of England in 2025 before his tenure concluded following the end of his contract.
During his time with the team, Dilip was widely credited for raising India's fielding standards and introducing the now-famous post-match fielding medal ceremony, which became a popular feature inside the dressing room. He was also part of several memorable campaigns, including India's ICC T20 World Cup triumphs in 2024 and 2026, the Champions Trophy victory in 2025 and two Asia Cup titles.
After his departure, T Dilip shared an emotional message on Instagram, thanking the BCCI, the coaching staff, captains and players for their trust and support over the last five years. He reflected on the unforgettable memories he created with the Indian team and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Indian cricket, while saying he would always cherish his journey with the national side.
Former India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate also recently left the national setup after the white-ball tour of England and has since joined Kolkata Knight Riders as the franchise's Head of Cricket Strategy.

Although Rohit Sharma rarely posts on social media, the veteran batter made an exception to appreciate T Dilip following his departure from the Indian team.
Rohit Sharma's message highlighted the impact T Dilip had on the dressing room and acknowledged the immense work he did away from the spotlight.
"You're a legend Dilip garu. You created magic within the group and a behind the scenes workhorse. Best wishes ahead @dilip.tk19," Rohit Sharma posted on his Instagram story with a picture of T Dilip.
Subhadeep Ghosh replaces T Dilip as India Men's fielding coach
The BCCI has appointed Subhadeep Ghosh as India's new men's fielding coach, with his first assignment set to be the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka beginning on August 15.
Ghosh brings significant experience to the role. He previously served as the fielding coach of the India Women's team for two years, during which he was part of the coaching staff for the 2022 Women's ODI World Cup and the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup. He has also worked with India A and coached Assam's senior men's side.
Before moving into coaching, Ghosh represented Assam and Railways as a right-handed batter, playing 17 first-class and 17 List A matches. He now begins a new chapter with the Indian men's team as he takes over the fielding responsibilities from T Dilip.
