LHQ vs HYDK LAH HYK PSL 2026 Lahore Qalandars Hyderabad Kingsmen
PC: X

The last season's champions, Lahore Qalandars, under Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi, will kickstart their campaign against the newcomers Hyderabad Kingsmen. The LHQ vs HYDK kickstarts the PSL 2026 season on the 26th of March.

The Lahore Qalandars did not look their best side in the previous edition of the Pakistan Super League, as they could just manage to finish fourth on the 6-team points table. However, once they reached the playoffs, they turned unbeaten, winning every match against Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and lastly Quetta Gladiators in the finals.

Pakistani batters Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique were the standout performers with the bat for the Lahore Qalandars, while Shaheen Afridi, the skipper, was the pick of the bowlers with 19 wickets in the season. On the other hand, Marnus Labuschagne will be leading the debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen in their maiden PSL season.

LHQ vs HYDK Head-to-Head Record

The Hyderabad Kingsmen are one of the two new franchises purchased at the team auction ahead of the 2026 season of the Pakistan Super League. The Lahore Qalandars are, on the other hand, one of the most successful franchises in the history of the PSL.

The Qalandars won the title three times back in 2022, 2023, and 2025. While Fakhar Zaman is the team's highest-ever run-getter, the skipper, Shaheen Afridi, is the highest wicket-taker. The two teams will meet for the first time in PSL history.

LHQ vs HYDK Pitch Report

The Lahore pitch is a lush green track, which offers widespread lateral movement and swing off the pitch. The pitch often helps the seamers to get the ball moving and, hence, helps them dominate with the new ball. The spinners come into action much later in the game, and the wide cracks can help them deceive the batters.

The track is an average-scoring venue with first-inning totals ranging mostly up to 166 and second-inning totals of 144. The venue recorded 23 wins while batting first and 14 while batting second; hence, this would not be an ideal venue for chasing high scores.

LHQ vs HYDK Weather Report

Lahore is likely to witness the highest range of temperatures during this time of the year. With high temperatures during the daytime, the temperature might be lower at night. The cloud cover is most likely to increase during nighttime.

Though the cloud cover would be high, there would not be many chances of precipitation. The high wind speed would facilitate the cloud cover being removed, which decreases the probability of thunderstorms.

LHQ vs HYDK: Playing XIs

The playing XI of the Lahore Qalandars and the Hyderabad Kingsmen would be entirely a predicted lineup. The Qalandars XI was picked, citing former references from previous seasons.

The likes of Fakhar Zaman or Abdullah Shafique could be named as the batters who performed promisingly well in the last season. On the other hand, the other middle-order batters would be from the Pakistan squad as well.

While Shaheen and Haris were picked in the bowling department, it would be further strengthened with Mustafizur Rahman. For the new franchise Kingsmen, international cricketers like Saim Ayub and Usman Khan could be picked as certain players in the XI. The youngsters from the domestic setup are others in the Hyderabad XI.

Lahore Qalandars Playing XI: Fakhar Zaman, Parvez Hossain Emon (wk), Abdullah Shafique, Sikander Raza, Tayyab Tahir, Asif Ali, Shaheen Afridi (c), Haris Rauf, Dunith Wellalage, Usama Mir, Mustafizur Rahman.

Hyderabad Kingsmen Playing XI: Kusal Perera, Maaz Sadaqat, Saim Ayub, Marnus Labuschagne (c), Sharjeel Khan, Usman Khan (wk), Irfan Khan, Riley Meredith, Akif Javed, Mohammad Ali, and Hunain Shah.

LHQ vs HYDK Form and Fitness

The Lahore Qalandars will have the in-form Pakistani batter Fakhar Zaman and the Pakistani ODI skipper Shaheen Afridi on their side. They will also have Zimbabwean skipper Sikandar Raza, who has been in standout form with both the bat and ball. Hyderabad Kingsmen have no such players on their side; however, they have a pile of promising youngsters.

As far as injuries are concerned, Daniel Sams joined Lahore Qalandars as the replacement for Dasun Shanaka. Glenn Maxwell, who has been injured, would not be available for the Hyderabad Kingsmen in the first half of the tournament.

Hussain Talat, the Pakistani batting all-rounder, was ruled out of the competition after facing a shoulder injury during the Bangladesh ODI series. Zaman Khan has also been ruled out following a severe shoulder injury. Ottneil Baartman was ruled out with an injury from the Kingsmen squad, and they picked Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana as his replacement.

LHQ vs HYDK Score Prediction

The Lahore Qalandars have a strong batting unit, while the Hyderabad Kingsmen do not have an equally strong batting department. Lahore Qalandars batting first might go on to post a massive total of nearly 200 runs.

The average first innings total at this venue is between 160 and 170, while the second innings average score is about 150. If Hyderabad Kingsmen opt to bat first, then it would be tough for them to post a decent total against the strong bowling lineup of the defending champions.

LHQ vs HYDK Players to Perform Prediction

Best Batsman Prediction:

Who will score the most runs for Lahore Qalandars? Fakhar Zaman or Abdullah Shafique

Who will score the most runs for Hyderabad Kingsmen? Maaz Sadaqat or Saim Ayub

Best Bowler Prediction

Who will pick the most wickets for Lahore Qalandars? Shaheen Afridi or Haris Rauf

Who will pick the most wickets for Hyderabad Kingsmen? Hassan Khan or Akif Javed

LHQ vs HYDK Match Prediction -Who will win PSL 2026 Match 1?

The defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, have been the most prolific side in the history of the PSL. The Qalandars represent the city of Lahore in the Pakistan Super League. The franchise, formed in 2015, was also the second-most expensive franchise sold during the inaugural PSL team auction.

After having struggled in their initial season with five bottom-of-the-table finishes, the Lahore Qalandars bounced back in the sixth season and won three titles in the last four seasons in the PSL. They were the champions in 2022 and 2023, but missed out on a hat trick in 2024.

Under skipper Shaheen Afridi's leadership, the Lahore Qalandars would be anticipated as the best team in the competition. The defending champions could easily be given the upper hand; however, the extent of form and excellence in the Hyderabad Kingsmen side is still not known to us.

Marnus Labuschagne will be leading an overseas franchise for the first time; however, they will also miss their most veteran T20 star, Glenn Maxwell. The Qalandars, on the other hand, will have a very dominating pack of cricketers in Zaman, Shafique, Haris Rauf, and Sikandar Raza, who can guide them to a comprehensive win.
