Liam Livingstone ripped apart after RCB's 2nd Home Loss; brutal punishment incoming?

Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has lashed out at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Liam Livingstone for his overwhelming performance in the ongoing IPL 2025. Manoj Tiwary slammed Liam Livingstone for poor shot selection and a lack of game awareness.

Despite being bought for a hefty INR 8.75 crore by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 mega auction, the all-rounder has failed to make any real impact this season. Livingstone has scored just 83 runs in five innings at an average of 20.75 and a strike rate of 133.87 so far this season.

His performance doesn’t match the expectations RCB had from him in the middle order. His only notable contribution came against the Gujarat Titans, where he scored 54 runs. Apart from that knock, he hasn’t even faced more than 10 balls in a single innings.

In his last two games, Livingstone managed just four runs in total. He was dismissed for a duck against the Mumbai Indians while trying a scoop shot off Hardik Pandya.

Following his series of poor performances in the ongoing IPL 2025, Tiwary brutally trolled Livingstone as he called the England all-rounder a new “Glenn Maxwell” for the RCB, who have now lost two of their five games in the ongoing tournament so far.

Manoj Tiwary was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “The one player that disappointed me the most was the overseas player, Liam Livingstone. Liam Livingstone is emerging as the new Glenn Maxwell. If you see his shot selection, despite being an experienced international player, he gets out in a similar fashion each and every time.”

The former Indian batter added, “If you talk about his previous innings at the Chinnaswamy against GT, he had given four chances, and only after that he made runs. So, RCB has a problem here with him. Indian batters can afford to make mistakes here and there, and little liberty is there for the overseas players as well, but not like this.”

In the next game against Delhi Capitals, he fell cheaply again, getting out to Mohit Sharma after an attempted wild slog. Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost that match by six wickets at home.

Manoj Tiwary slams Liam Livingstone for careless batting after another RCB collapse

Meanwhile, Manoj Tiwary has pointed out that Livingstone is misusing the freedom given to him by the RCB management. The cricket expert feels that such careless batting isn’t helping the team’s cause, and he must understand that consistent underperformance could cost him his place.

Livingstone walked in to bat against Delhi Capitals when Royal Challengers Bengaluru needed someone to steady the innings. They had already lost three quick wickets and needed support for Rajat Patidar. But Livingstone got out just a few overs later due to his careless batting, leaving RCB in more trouble at 91/4.

Tiwary signed off by saying, “If you are getting out while playing good shots or getting out to a good ball, then even the team management understands the effort. If you look at Livingstone's dismissal, it seemed like he wanted to hit the ball out of the ground; the situation did not demand that at that time.”
