Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 31 off 46 balls and added 27 with Mushfiqur Rahim before Lyon dismissed him.

Pat Cummins then removed Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 1 and Hasan Mahmud for 2, while Starc bowled Taijul Islam for 7 before tea. Bangladesh were reduced to 95/8, with Mushfiqur Rahim unbeaten on 29. Nathan Lyon finished the job by dismissing Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam within three deliveries.
