Hollywood actor Charlie Vickers, known for his role in Rings of Power, recently shared his admiration for Indian national cricket team star Virat Kohli. Charlie Vickers also recounted a memorable moment when he walked by Kohli in an Auckland hotel, describing it as a surreal moment for him.

As cricket's global popularity grows, Virat Kohli has gained fans worldwide, including notable figures and celebrities. The former Indian skipper has shattered many records in his international career. Kohli is currently in London, as he took a break from cricket after the Sri Lanka tour earlier this month.

That Was Really Surreal - Charlie Vickers

In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Charlie Vickers opened up about his experience meeting Virat Kohli. Vickers recounted how surreal it felt to spot the cricketer in a hotel in Auckland. He admitted that he was too nervous to approach Kohli during the encounter.

"I once walked by Virat Kohli in a hotel in Auckland, and that was really surreal. So I’ll say him because of that encounter. No, I was too nervous (on did he greet Kohli)," the Australian actor said.

Virat Kohli was last seen in action during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. After the series, Kohli flew to London to reunite with his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, and their children, Vamika and Akaay. His family has been living in London since the birth of his son Akaay.

I've Never Had The Chance To Explore - Charlie Vickers

Charlie Vickers highlighted that his connection to Indian cinema has been through cricketers due to his cricket fandom. He mentioned that former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee served as his introduction to the Indian film industry. Vickers expressed a desire to learn more about Bollywood.

"I’ve never had the chance to explore Indian cinema, but my only way into Bollywood has been through cricketers because cricket is so massive in India, and I’m a big cricket fan in Australia."

"There was an Australian fast bowler named Brett Lee, who became quite big in the Bollywood scene as a musician. Brett Lee is my window into Bollywood; I have to learn more about it," Vickers added.

Virat Kohli Playing Test Cricket For Another Five Years - Sanjay Bangar

Former India cricketer and batting coach Sanjay Bangar said that Virat Kohli is expected to continue playing Test cricket for at least five more years. Bangar highlighted that red-ball cricket will likely be the last format Kohli gives up in international cricket.

"So, I am sure that you will see Virat playing Test cricket for another five years," Bangar said on The Rao Podcast.

Virat Kohli retired from T20 Internationals earlier this year after India's victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 35-year-old will continue to play ODIs and Test matches. Kohli is expected to participate in India's two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which will take place from September 19 to October 12. India will play two Tests and three T20s during the home series.
