Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 16th match of IPL 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on April 4. Having registered against SRH and KKR, respectively, both teams will look to carry the momentum into this game.
Lucknow Super Giants will be playing their first match of the season in Lucknow and will look to continue the momentum that the team gained with their maiden win of IPL 2025 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad
MI, on the other hand, was also successful in registering their first win of the season against KKR at the Wankhede stadium and would hope to build on it with another convincing performance against the Lucknow Super Giants.
It would be interesting to see the combinations of both teams for the first match of the season to be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

LSG Playing 11 vs Mumbai Indians- IPL 2025, Match 16:
Openers: Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh
South Africa's T20 captain Aiden Markram will start the innings for Lucknow Super Giants along with Mitchell Marsh in the LSG vs MI clash. Markram has not been in great form in the first couple of matches and was dismissed in the first six overs against DC and SRH.
Mitchell Marsh, on the other hand, has been the stand-out batter for LSG. The Australian all-rounder kicked off the 2025 IPL season with a half-century against DC, although in a losing cause, and played a match-winning innings in the second match against SRH.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Shahbaz Ahmed, David Miller, Shardul Thakur
The opening duo will be followed by Nicholas Pooran, who has been the mainstay of the Lucknow Super Giants' batting lineup and has scored back-to-back fifties in the tournament so far, and would like to replicate the same against MI.
One of the biggest concerns for the Lucknow Super Giants will be the team's middle order, which hasn't been tested to a great extent and includes the likes of David Miller, captain Rishabh Pant, Ayush Badoni, and Shahbaz Ahmed
LSG also has all-rounder Shardul Thakur at the helm, who has led an inexperienced bowling attack from the front and can make handy contributions with the bat.
Bowlers: Manimaran Siddharth, Ravu Bishnoi, Digvesh Singh, Prince Yadav
Lucknow Super Giants have done a decent job with the ball so far, because the Rishabh Pant-led side is without most of their first-choice bowler and has to depend on rookies like Digvesh Singh and Prince Yadav to do the job for the team.
LSG is making a reputation like MI of unleashing young Indian bowlers, a trend which started last year with Mayank Yadav and Manimaran Siddharth, and this year the team is showcasing young bowlers like Digvesh Singh and Prince Yadav, who have bowled well in the first couple of matches
