Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) heads into this weekend's IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah with five key player retentions and a healthy ₹69 crore purse, positioning themselves for a potential squad overhaul.
The franchise, which finished in the playoffs for two consecutive seasons since their 2022 debut, has retained West Indies star Nicholas Pooran for a substantial ₹21 crore.
The decision follows Pooran's impressive 2024 season, where he averaged over 40 with a strike rate exceeding 160.

Lucknow Super Giants' faith in young Indian talent continues with the retention of fast bowler Mayank Yadav and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi at ₹11 crore each.
Yadav made headlines in 2024 by consistently clocking speeds over 150 kmph, while Bishnoi remains their leading wicket-taker since the team's inception.
Uncapped players Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni round out the retentions at ₹4 crore each, reflecting Lucknow Super Giants' strategy of backing promising domestic talent.
The team holds one Right to Match (RTM) card, allowing them to match the highest bid for any of their released players during the auction.
Lucknow Super Giants must sign between 13 and 20 players from a pool of 574 shortlisted candidates, including 366 Indians and 208 overseas players. The auction, being held in Saudi Arabia for the first time is a shift from last year's Dubai venue.
