Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) young star Ayush Badoni is surely making a name for himself in the two innings he has played thus far in the ongoing IPL 2022 including one against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 7th match of the tournament at the Brabourne Stadium.

Ravindra Jadeja’s debut as the CSK captain fell flat as they were outplayed and outclassed by Shreyas Iyer’s debut as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain at Wankhede. Meanwhile, LSG captained by KL Rahul were coming off a defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans (GT) in a match, that they should’ve won.

Chennai Super Kings were put in to bat first after Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bowl. Chennai Super Kings made three changes as Devon Conway went out for Moeen Ali, Adam Milne, struggling with a side strain made way for Mukesh Choudhary and Mitchell Santner made way for all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius as CSK were a pacer short.

LSG made one change in bringing in Andre Tye as their fourth overseas player.

CSK batted first after losing the toss as KL Rahul opted to bowl first. Thanks to 50 from Robin Uthappa and 49 from Shivam Dube, CSK managed in posting 210/7 in 20 overs. Moeen Ali also made 35, while Ambati Rayudu contributed 27 runs. For LSG, Avesh Khan, Andrew Tye, and Ravi Bishnoi picked two wickets each.

In the chase, LSG openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock added 99 runs in 11 overs with Rahul making 40 in 26 balls, while De Kock made 61 in 45 balls with 9 fours. CSK made a comeback with Manish Pandey falling for 5 and Deepak Hooda for 13, but then Evin Lewis (55* in 23 balls) and a cameo from Ayush Badoni took them home in the last over with 6 wickets to spare.

Badoni remained unbeaten on 19 in 9 balls hitting 2 sixes and one of those sixes hit a girl in the stands on her head. It was the 1st ball of 19th over from Shivam Dube and Badoni swept it over square leg. The over ended up going for 25 runs, sealing the loss for CSK.
