Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma backed Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera to be superstars for them in the future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that their story is going to be similar to those of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya 

Mumbai Indians are considered the factory for producing exciting young players and making them superstars. Over the years the franchise has given Indian cricket many great players and in the ongoing IPL 2023, their two players are again the hot soup.

Two southpaws Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera have caught everyone’s eye with their performances. Not only have they impressed many but they have won games for Mumbai Indians as well and are among the main reason behind them being in the playoffs.

Tilak Varma came into the fray last season as he was the leading run-getter for the team with 397 runs and has been sensational this year as well. He missed the last few games due to injury but in the 9 games that he has played, he has scored 274 runs and is expected to huge role in playoffs.

On the other hand, Nehal Wadhera has played a few game-changing knocks for Mumbai Indians and has piled up 214 runs with an average of 30.57 from the 12 games that he has played so far. 

Rohit Sharma said that like the way Mumbai Indians have nurtured players like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya and turned them into superstars, a similar thing is going to happen with Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera. Speaking to Jio Cinema, he said: 

“Honestly it’s going to be the same story what has happened with (Jasprit) Bumrah, Hardik (Pandya) and all these guys. That’s the same story that will happen with guys like Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera.”

Rohit Sharma further went on to say that after two years people will say Mumbai Indians have superstars in Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera but these guys but the fact is that they are being trained first. He elaborated: 

“Watch the next two years, then people will say ‘arey ye toh superstar team hai (they’re a team full of superstars). These guys are being scouted and they are trained. These two guys are gonna be huge stars for us, and for India.”

Rohit Sharma is currently captaining the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He has guided his side to the playoff this year. They will be next seen in action when they will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator on Wednesday (24th) May.
