Lucknow Super Giants fielding coach Jonty Rhodes has been receiving praise from all over for his heartwarming gesture for Yash Thakur after the latter dropped a catch during the game against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday (April 23).
Bowling first, LSG made a solid start as Matt Henry dismissed Ajinkya Rahane for just one run in the first over. The visitors could have had a second wicket in the second over itself but Yash Thakur failed to grab a chance from Daryl Mitchell.
On the third ball of the second over, left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan bowled an angled delivery to the New Zealand batter. Mitchell went for a slash but could not make a good contact with the ball. The ball flew towards the short third man after taking the outside edge of the bat. Yash Thakur, however, failed to hold on to the catch as he ended up lobbing the ball over his head.
At the end of the over when Yash Thakur was sent near the boundary rope for fielding, Jonty Rhodes made sure to uplift his spirits with his kind gesture. As he saw Thakur walking towards the boundary, the former South Africa cricketer came out from the dugout and ran towards the fast bowler. He gave him a thumbs up and patted him on his back before walking back towards the dugout.

LSG indeed is very lucky to have him as a fielding coach. p<!---->i<!---->c<!---->.<!---->t<!---->w<!---->i<!---->t<!---->t<!---->e<!---->r<!---->.<!---->c<!---->o<!---->m<!---->/<!---->W<!---->T<!---->9<!---->z<!---->S<!---->Y<!---->C<!---->G<!---->T<!---->j
Fortunately for Thakur and LSG, the drop did not prove costly as Mitchell could not score big. In the sixth over, Thakur himself dismissed the right-handed batsman for 11 runs.
Talking about the game, LSG went on to beat CSK by six wickets to complete a double over them this season. Riding on Ruturaj Gaikwad's century and Shivam Dube's half-century, CSK scored 210/4 in 20 overs. In reply, LSG chased down the total with three balls remaining. Marcus Stoinis was the star of the show, scoring an unbeaten 124 to single-handedly power his team to the win.
