South Africa Cricket Team is all set to play a 3-Test Match Series in Australia after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2022. The Proteas would be without their Head Coach Mark Boucher who earlier had decided to part ways as he got offers from Franchise Leagues.
Mark Boucher did quite a decent job as he made South Africa a force to reckon with in all the formats of the game. They now have a golden chance to stamp their authority in the World Test Championship (WTC) where they are looking ominous.
Malibongwe Maketa Named Interim Head Coach
Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe announced that Malibongwe Maketa has the Interim Head Coach. “We are pleased to name Malibongwe as our interim coach to lead the Proteas in Australia. He is a familiar face to the environment and has worked in the same space previously when he served as assistant coach,” said Nkwe.
“Mali knows most of the players well; they know him too; and with such a short time between now and the tour, we as Cricket South Africa felt we needed someone who could step in immediately and lead us through what is an important series for the Proteas,” he added.
Crucial Series for South Africa
Australia vs South Africa Test Series would be a fascinating one as both the teams have got some serious fast bowlers. This Test Series will most likely decide the WTC finalist as now there is only a handful of series left.
Skipper Dean Elgar would be well aware of the fact that they don’t have a strong batting lineup. The team would be relying on their fast bowlers to decimate the opponent. It would be interesting to see how South Africa performs as the last time in 2016 they won the Test Series.
