The Indian domestic season has already started with the Duleep Trophy. As per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announcement for the 2026-27 domestic season, next up is the Irani Cup, and then the Ranji Trophy. Amidst this, former Punjab Cricket Team captain Mandeep Singh is reportedly set to join Tripura. Apart from him, all-rounder Swapnil Singh is also expected to rejoin Tripura.

Last year, Jammu and Kashmir surprised everyone and won their maiden Ranji Trophy, beating an start studded, Karnataka side. This season, they would like to retain the trophy and showcase that they are capable of fighting against the best of Indian cricketers and playing a good brand of cricket as well. The Ranji season will run till March next year.

Mandeep Singh comeback for second stint with Tripura

Mandeep Singh has been a famous name in the Indian domestic circuit as he has been a sensational batter and fielder for the sides he has played in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) and also in the domestic format. The former India batter is set to return to Tripura as a guest player for the upcoming domestic season.

He returns to the team after a year of stepping away from the State side following a brilliant stint in the 2024/25 season. The veteran batter confirmed his participation with the Sportstar ahead of the season, as he is currently in England and will return to India ahead of the season. This will be his second stint with the team.

Mandeep Singh's record with Tripura in the 2024/25 season

Mandeep Singh joined the Tripura side back in the 2024/25 season from Punjab and was awarded the captaincy across formats. In his first season with the side, he scored 517 runs in six matches, including an unbeaten 124. He also made a half-century in each of his nine innings. This showcased his unreal consistency with the side.

He captained the side in six games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and seven matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Tripura in the 2024-25 season, before leaving the side in the 2025/26 season. He scored two half-centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s. Despite all good forms of his, the side failed to qualify from the group stages in all the competitions.

Mandeep Singh overall domestic record

Mandeep Singh played for Punjab for 15 years and for Tripura for one season; overall, in 105 First-Class matches, he has scored 6,965 runs at an average of 49.75, including 16 centuries and 39 fifties. He also won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) in the 2023/24 season as the captain of Punjab, securing their first-ever title in the tournament's history by defeating Baroda in the final

In 137 List A matches, he has amassed 4,180 runs at an average of 37.65, with four centuries and 31 fifties, including a best of 119. He featured in 214 T20 matches; he has scored 4,043 runs at an average of 27.88 and a strike rate of 128.84, with 21 fifties and a highest score of 99 not out.
