Bengal veteran Manoj Tiwary, on Saturday (February 16), announced his retirement from cricket. The right-handed batsman is currently busy playing for Bengal in their Ranji Trophy clash against Bihar at the iconic Eden Gardens.

With just 1 win from six games, Bengal are already out of the quarterfinals race. The ongoing game will be their last game in this Ranji season. And the game will also be Manoj Tiwary’s final red-ball game for his state side. On Saturday, he took to X to post a video, showing glimpses of his long first-class career and announced that he would bring down curtains on his illustrious career after the game against Bihar.

In his post, the Bengal star did not clear whether he is just retiring from first-class cricket or all forms of the game. Announcing the decision, Manoj Tiwary also urged the fans to come and support him and Bengal in the ongoing game as he wrote:

“Hi all, So… It’s time for one last dance! Possibly one last time for a long walk towards my beloved 22 yards. I will miss every bit of it! Thanks for cheering and loving me all these years. Would be loving it if you all come down to my favourite #EdenGardens today and tomorrow to cheer for Bengal.”

“A circle is about to get completed at the iconic Eden Gardens. I was fortunate to make my first class debut at the Eden Gardens. I am about to play my last at the same venue where it all started. I am playing my last first class match of my career,” Tiwary added.

Manoj Tiwary had announced his retirement from the game last year before taking a U-turn in order to help Bengal win the Ranji Trophy. However, Bengal failed to do well this season and are set to crash out at the league stage.
