The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Ishan Kishan has just started putting pressure on the Punjab Kings (PBKS), but Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen changed the script within seconds in the ongoing IPL 2026 clash at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
Ishan Kishan was dangerously batting with Heinrich Klaasen, and even the duo added 47 runs off 33 balls for the third wicket, but PBKS managed to find a way to break this partnership as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head already made enough damage with the 120-run opening stand.

And the moment finally came in the 14th over of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s innings as Arshdeep Singh finally got his first wicket of the ongoing IPL 2026 season in a dramatic way. The PBKS fast bowler delivered a full delivery on middle and leg, and Kishan flicked it cleanly towards cow corner, aiming for another boundary and keeping the momentum going.

For even a few seconds, it looked like an easy boundary, but Marco Jansen managed to provide a big breakthrough to the Punjab Kings. Jansen was stationed at deep mid-wicket, where he showed pure brilliance to pull off the stunning catch to send Ishan back to the pavilion.
The South African all-rounder stretched out his right hand and grabbed the ball in the air, all while staying just inside the boundary rope. His efforts left everyone stunned as Kishan walked back after scoring 27 runs off 17 balls with the help of three fours and one six against the PBKS.
He made that catch look easy 😏

SRH’s Powerplay storm shocks PBKS at Mullanpur
Well, this IPL 2026 match started in a shocking way as Sunrisers Hyderabad came out all guns blazing, and fans got to witness the pure attack as Punjab Kings bowlers had no answer. In just 6 overs, SRH smashed 105 runs without losing a wicket, creating a new record at Mullanpur.
This was only the fifth time in IPL history that 100 runs or more have been scored in the powerplay. It was complete domination, and Abhishek Sharma led the charge with a fiery 74 off just 28 balls, while Travis Head played a quick knock of 38 runs off 23 balls.
PBKS fight back, set for record target at home
But Punjab Kings made a strong comeback, thanks to Shashank Singh, who removed both dangerous openers while Abhishek Sharma struck in the middle overs. Interestingly, SRH managed only 71 runs in the next 9 overs, thanks to a tight final over from Xavier Bartlett.
Bartlett gave away just 5 runs and helped PBKS pull things back. Still, SRH finished with a big total of 219/6. Arshdeep finished with the figures of 50/2 in his 4 overs against Hyderabad. With this, the pacer made an unwanted record by surpassing Sam Curran.
Arshdeep Singh leaked 50 or more runs in an innings for the fifth time in his IPL career, while Curran did this four times. Now, it will be interesting to see whether PBKS could chase down the target, as the highest successful chase against them came way back in 2014.
That time, Punjab chased down a huge target of 206 in Hyderabad, and it remains their highest successful chase in their history.
