Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the central contracts for the 2024-25 season. Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar are two prominent names who are not part of the list. Cricket Australia has added 23 Aussie players to their list. The Australian Cricket Board has also added some fresh faces to the new contract.
Other than Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar, Marcus Harris, Michael Neser, and David Warner are other big names who were dropped. Warner retired from Tests and ODIs earlier this year and is expected to take international retirement post-T20 World Cup 2024.
Marcus Stoinis was part of Australia’s squad in the ODI World Cup 2023
Notably, Marcus Stoinis was part of the Australia squad that won the ICC ODI World Cup last year in India. Stoinis is currently out of the field due to a back injury. The all-rounder was last seen in the T20I series against West Indies in February.
Pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood retained their spots in the contracts. Mitchell Marsh, who is expected to lead the team in ICC T20 World Cup 2024, was awarded another contract. Batting stalwarts Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, and Usman Khawaja also managed to get contracts by CA for the 2024-25 season. Below is the full list.
