The IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 8 has turned into the biggest controversy of the season. The last over of DC’s chase has exploded into match-fixing claims on social media, with fans asking why David Miller refused a simple single when they needed just two runs in two balls against GT.

The drama unfolded at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where the Delhi Capitals had found themselves in a strong position to chase down the target of 211 runs against the Gujarat Titans. KL Rahul played a remarkable knock of 92 runs off 52 balls to push DC to 101 for 1 in the 10th over.

Rashid Khan flips the game with a double blow

However, Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan turned the game in favor of GT by dismissing Nitish Rana and red-hot Sameer Rizvi in the same over. This forced David Miller to come out to bat early in the chase despite the fact that he had already injured his right hand while fielding.

After just a handful of balls, the South Africa hitter visibly struggled, winced in pain, and shockingly walked off retired hurt. Then, DC captain Axar Patel came in but fell for just 2. Soon after, Tristan Stubbs and Rahul were also sent back to the pavilion, and DC found itself in a tough spot.

David Miller’s stunning comeback revives DC’s hopes

With Delhi sinking, Miller returned to bat, and this injured man turned into a monster. Still, DC needed 36 runs off 12 balls. But in the next over, Miller hit two sixes and a boundary off Mohammed Siraj while Vipraj Nigam also joined the hitting, as DC got 23 runs from that over.

Well, the equation was then that the DC needed only 13 off the final over, and the match was in their hands. Vipraj smashed a boundary on the first ball, and then Miller managed a big six. Now just 2 runs were required off 2 balls, and Kuldeep Yadav was at the other end.

Fans cry ‘Match-Fixing’ as Miller refuses a single

But then came the moment that shocked everyone. Actually, Miller refused an easy single that would have tied the match and pushed it into a Super Over at worst. Fans and commentators were left shocked and confused, stunned. Even players on the field didn’t understand what had just happened.

On the final delivery, Miller missed the ball completely, and Kuldeep was run out while trying to steal a desperate bye. Delhi Capitals lost a match they had almost sealed as GT won by one run. After DC’s defeat against GT, fans flooded social media with fiery accusations. Many claimed that Miller’s refusal to take that single was clever match-fixing.
