Matthew Hayden Predicts The Winner Of ICC World Cup 2023

Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden expressed his belief that the Rohit Sharma-led team will win the trophy in the ICC World Cup 2023. Matthew Hayden commended the Men in Blue for playing excellent cricket under pressure and highlighted the team’s unity.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will face the Pat Cummins-led team in the World Cup final clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. India registered a convincing 6-wicket win when they last played against Australia in the group stage.

India Will Win The World Cup – Matthew Hayden

Speaking to The ICC Review on Spotify, Matthew Hayden praised India’s experienced bowling unit, noting that even the youngest member, Mohammad Siraj, gained considerable experience in international cricket.

“I believe India will win the World Cup, and why they will win is because they have the weight of 1.3 billion people behind them. They’re playing great cricket under pressure. They are playing cricket, where they’re very together. Their bowling unit is extremely experienced. Even Siraj, as the youngest member of the squad, has now got considerable experience,” Hayden told ICC.

“Kohli’s form, over 700 runs in this tournament. Rohit’s form, Shubman’s class, and Shreyas Iyer’s now absolute resurgence through this World Cup put the team as undeniable favorites,” he further stated.

We’ve Won This Tournament More Than Anyone Else – Matthew Hayden

The cricketer-turned-commentator expressed anticipation for a great match against India in the World Cup final, despite acknowledging Australia’s winning legacy in the tournament. He admitted that Team India has the edge over every side in the ongoing World Cup.

“But there’s an X factor, and that is that Australia are winners. We’ve won this tournament more than anyone else in the competition. We’ve won it regularly, and boy, here we are again. It’s going to be one of the great matches and matchups through this World Cup, but my heart tells me that I’d love to see Australia at least compete and win. I really believe that India has got the edge over every side during this World Cup,” Hayden further stated.

Australia has won the ODI World Cup five times, while India has achieved the feat twice in history. The Men in Yellow clinched the title when they faced the Indian team in the final of the tournament back in 2003 in South Africa.
