The records were shattered in the 31st match of Big Bash League 2024-25 between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat. The Strikers put a massive score on the board after being put in to bat first.

Skipper Matthew Short led from the front and played a blinder. He scored 109 off 54 balls with 10 fours and 7 sixes, registering the fastest ton by an Adelaide Strikers batter. On the other hand, it was an evening to forget for Brisbane Heat bowlers. They conceded over 250 runs in the innings and conceded the second-highest BBL score in the history of the tournament.

Unwanted record for Brisbane Heat in BBL

It happened for the first time in the history of the Big Bash League that every bowler has conceded more than 40 runs in an innings. Five bowlers were used by Brisbane Heat's captain Colin Munro.

All the bowlers bowled four overs each while three of them conceded 50 or more runs in their spell. Left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann was the pick of the bowlers and finished with 3-50 in his four overs.

Fast bowlers Michael Neser and Xavier Bartlett finished with identical figures of 0-53 in four overs. Leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson bowled well and finished with 2-41 while the left-arm fast bowler Spencer Johnson had figures of 0-45 in his spell.

Adelaide Strikers achieve a new milestone in BBL

Adelaide Strikers scored 251-5 in the allotted 20 overs which is the second-highest score in the Big Bash League history. The record for the highest BBL score is still with Melbourne Stars which they scored against Hobart Hurricanes on January 19, 2022.

They surpassed the score of 232-2 by Sydney Thunder against Sydney Sixers on January 22, 2021. Matthew Short played a blinder and led from the front. Chris Lynn and Alex Ross complemented them well with outstanding knocks.

Brilliant performance from the Adelaide Strikers in BBL match

Meanwhile, it was a brilliant batting performance from Adelaide Strikers who made full use of good batting conditions at Adelaide Oval. Captain Matthew Short smashed a whirlwind century while Chris Lynn scored 47 off 20 balls while opening the batting.

In reply, the Brisbane Heat started well but the score was too big for them. Their batters got starts but couldn't carry on to get a big score. Nathan McSweeney played an excellent knock of 43 off 24 balls with 4 fours and 1 six while Matt Renshaw smashed 34 off 16 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes.
