Australia’s women’s team captain, Meg Lanning, has announced her retirement from all three formats of international cricket at the age of 31. Lanning described it as a difficult decision, but she feels it is the right time to end her 13-year international career.
Meg Lanning achieved a remarkable feat by leading Australia’s women’s team to five titles in ICC tournaments, making her the only captain to achieve this. The 31-year-old captained the side in four T20 World Cup victories and one ODI World Cup-winning campaign.
Difficult One To Make – Meg Lanning
Meg Lanning expressed her pride in the team’s success and her achievements during her illustrious career. Lanning also mentioned that she would cherish the moments shared with her teammates.
“The decision to step away from international cricket was a difficult one to make, but I feel now is the right time. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to enjoy a 13-year international career, but I know now is the right time for me to move on to something new.”

Lanning represented Australia in 132 T20Is, 103 ODIs, and six Test matches. She led the Australia team in 182 matches in international cricket. She amassed 8352 in 241 matches across the formats. She also won a Commonwealth Games gold medal as a captain.
