Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been admitted to a local hospital after suffering a concussion when he was struck on the head by a bouncer. The all-rounder chose to continue batting and played a key role in helping his team complete a memorable victory before undergoing medical checks.

The second ODI between Bangladesh and Australia was played in Dhaka on Thursday, June 11. Bangladesh successfully chased down the 188-run target in a tense finish to secure the victory and seal the ODI series. Notably, it was Bangladesh's first-ever ODI series win against the six-time World Cup champions.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz Hospitalized After Blow to the Head

Bangladesh team physiotherapist Bayjedul Islam Khan provided an update on Mehidy Hasan Miraz after the captain suffered a concussion. He said that Miraz was taken to a hospital for further checks and observation after the match.

"Mehidy Hasan Miraz had a concussion during the match today," Bayjedul Islam Khan said after the game. "He continued to play after being assessed in the middle. We have sent him to the hospital to assess the rest of his signs, and for general observation. He will be there for the next 24 hours."

The injury occurred in the 34th over of Bangladesh's chase when a bouncer from Riley Meredith struck the side of Miraz's helmet. The Bangladesh captain immediately grabbed his head and dropped to his knees in visible pain.

It Was Incredible of Miraz to Bat in That Condition - Taskin Ahmed on Mehidy Hasan Miraz

According to ESPNcricinfo, Miraz Hasan Miraz is now out of immediate danger. However, he will remain under medical supervision until Friday as part of the standard concussion recovery protocol.

Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed praised Mehidy for continuing to bat despite suffering a concussion during the tense run chase against Australia. Taskin said that the captain made a brave decision to stay at the crease and guide the team through a pressure situation.

"It was incredible of Miraz to bat in that condition," he said. "I think he took a quick decision that if he walks off, the new batter could be prone to making a mistake in that pressure situation."

Miraz remained unbeaten on 22 off 22 balls and played a crucial role in the closing stages of the chase. He hit a six off Riley Meredith to seal Bangladesh's victory and their first-ever ODI series win over Australia.

Bangladesh then chased down the revised DLS target of 188 in 35 overs to secure a historic victory. The hosts took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, and their first-ever ODI series win over Australia.

The third and final ODI is scheduled for Sunday, June 14.
