Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, was hit by a massive security breach during the Australian Rules football match on Thursday. Two men brought guns into the stadium during the game between Collingwood and Carlton.

Australian Rules football match between Collingwood and Carlton at the Melbourne Cricket Ground saw over 82,000 people attending the game. However, among them, one 21-year-old man and a 27-year-old man smuggled guns into the stadium and were also refusing to leave the iconic MCG Ground.

This saw Victoria Police arresting them and charging them with multiple offenses, including possessing an unregistered handgun and ammunition without a license. But they also mentioned that the incident at the Melbourne Cricket Ground wasn't linked to terrorism and there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Melbourne Cricket Ground CEO Stuart Fox addressed the situation, saying that they will be increasing the extensiveness of the secondary manual security process. While calling the incident disappointing, he said that they would be working with Victoria Police, the AFL, and our security provider going ahead.

"Last night's incident is extremely disappointing and upsetting. As a result, we will be increasing the extensiveness of the secondary manual security process and patrons may experience slight delays as they attend upcoming events," MCG CEO Stuart Fox said in a statement.

"We will continue to work closely with Victoria Police, the AFL and our security provider in executing the MCG's security procedures."

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon also called the incident "extremely disappointing. He said that they will be working with the authorities to ensure the matches and venues continue to be safe for the rest of the tournament. He added:

"More than 1.2 million fans have attended the football so far this season and we will work closely with authorities to ensure the matches and venues continue to be a safe and welcoming place for all," Dillon said in a statement.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also shared his take on the incident at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He called the security breach at the stadium extremely shocking and added that he hoped that the Police would take care of the people. He said:

"This is pretty shocking. I hope that they (the men) get the book thrown at them for this. And I do want to thank Victoria Police for their work in keeping people safe."
