Allen had a remarkable season with the Perth Scorchers earlier this year. The New Zealand opener finished BBL|15 as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 466 runs and played a key role in Perth’s Scorchers’ record sixth title triumph.

Finn Allen excited to call MCG his new home
Meanwhile, Finn Allen is excited about his move to the Melbourne Stars and the chance to play at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne. The New Zealand batter is looking forward to making the famous MCG his new home venue.
Allen said in a statement on the club’s official website, "The Stars are a powerhouse team in this competition, so it's going to be a lot of fun playing for them. They've already got a huge fanbase, and they're only getting bigger, and I can't wait to be a part of that. I think all cricketers love playing at the MCG, so to be able to call that my home ground now is really exciting.”

Well, Allen has now become the 12th player signed by the Melbourne Stars for the upcoming BBL 2026-27 season. However, the club still has six places to fill.
The Stars also have a new option for signing overseas players, as the overseas draft system has been removed from the Big Bash League. Now, all the clubs can directly bring in up to three international players.

Allen has been on a brilliant run since helping Perth Scorchers win the BBL title. He played a key role in New Zealand’s run to the T20 World Cup final. He then scored 349 runs in his maiden IPL season with Kolkata Knight Riders, including a century against Delhi Capitals.
He then turned the heads with the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket and the Trent Rockets in The Hundred. Notably, Stars added Test spinner Todd Murphy to their BBL|16 squad. Mitch Swepson is also part of the team, while Jamie and Craig Overton are linked with the Stars.
