Former legspinner Danish Kaneria has taken a brutal dig at the Pakistan cricket team after their defeat to England in the first Test of the series at Multan. Kaneria was highly critical of Babar Azam as well, who failed in both the innings of the Test match.
England defeated England by an innings and 47 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series. Pakistan scored 556 in their first innings after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Three Pakistan batters scored hundreds and it looked like the match is headed towards a draw.
However, England turned the tables with their Bazball approach and scored a mammoth 823-7 in their first innings. Joe Root and Harry Brook smashed records as they registered massive scores of 262 and 317 respectively.
Trailing by 267 runs, Pakistan's batting line-up surrendered in the second innings and was dramatically dismissed for 220. England's bowlers were stupendous on a flat batting wicket and got enough help on the fourth and fifth-day pitch.
"Mera toh gaaliyan dene ko dil kar raha hai" - Danish Kaneria tears apart Pakistan
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria declared the death of Pakistan cricket. He was extremely critical of the team and wondered about the skills of Pakistan bowlers who did not find any help from the wicket.
"Aaj Pakistan cricket team ka janaaza nikal gaya (Today Pakistan cricket team died). I mean, what should I say? The way they has played cricket, either they should stop playing cricket or if they want to play then they should bring youngsters.
"How long will we keep just looking losing like this, what kind of people are these? Almost 850 (823/7) runs were conceded," Kaneria said.
"Mera toh gaaliyan dene ko dil kar raha hai. Humne bhi Pakistan ki home series kheli hai aur dead wickets par bowling ki hai. Kahan gayi hamaari reverse swing, Kahan gaye hamaare bouncer?" he added.
While Pakistani bowlers did not find any help from the Multan pitch and conceded runs at 5.48 runs per over, English bowlers were brilliant and extracted whatever was available from the surface. England showed the home team how to utilize such conditions in their favor.
"Kab cricket khelna seekhega" - Danish Kaneria questions Babar Azam
Danish Kaneria did not stop here and even slammed Babar Azam while questioning his batting. He claimed the pitch was not doing anything but Babar was still troubled. He even asked Babar when he learned to play the game.
"People are talking about Babar Azam. Babar Azam Sahib, ek pitch jahan ball kuch bhi nahin kar raha hai, wahan aap thumke laga rahe ho. Kya kar raha hai bhai? kab cricket khelna seekhega (On a pitch where the ball is not doing anything, you are dancing (embarrassing) there," Kaneria wondered.
"What are you doing brother, when will you learn to play cricket? And our people are making him king. What type of King is he?” he added.
Babar Azam in the last 18 Test innings
Babar Azam is going through the worst time of his international career. He has not scored a fifty since the last 18 innings. His last fifty-plus score was against New Zealand in December 2022 when he scored 161 against New Zealand.
In the last 18 innings, he has scored 366 runs at an average of 20.33. With two more Tests remaining in the series, Babar will hope to return to form.
