"Met Dhoni at a wedding, he said to me, 'You don't need to tell me"- Saina Nehwal's husband makes shocking confession

MS Doni. The former Indian skipper's personal aura gets to everyone and this time it was Parupalli Kashyap, the ace Indian badminton star who was at the receiving end of it.

Speaking at a podcast, he recalled his meeting with MS Dhoni and remembered how he spoke to him like a friend and said that he follows tennis.

The 37-year-old suggested that since everyone doesn't follow badminton, he introduced himself to Dhoni as Saina's husband. However, Kashyap revealed that Dhoni's reaction upon meeting him was something he did not expect.

"I met Dhoni at a wedding recently. I introduced myself as Saina's husband. I thought I was Saina's plus one here so some people who follow sports might recognize me. I am a cricket and Dhoni fan. So, when I met him, he told me 'pata hai bhai. I play badminton. I know who you are and you don't need to tell me that you are Saina's husband.' He spoke to me like a friend, as if I am his teammate," Kashyap said on Nikhil Tho Natakalu's podcast.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is the only captain in the world who has won three ICC titles. He won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy as captain. India has not won an ICC title for 11 years since that 2013 Champions Trophy win.

Finally, in 2024, India broke the deadlock as they won their second ICC T20 World Cup title and brought an end to their ICC title drought. India defeated South Africa in the final. India posted 176 with the bat and South Africa failed to chase down the target with them requiring 30 off 30 balls at one stage.

India won their second T20 World Cup as they remained unbeaten in the campaign. They defeated Australia in the Super 8s to knock them out of the tournament and in the process, avenge their ODI World Cup final win. The nation's World Cup win was celebrated in style in Mumbai as the Indian players did a road show much to the appreciation of the crowd. The city became a standstill on July 4th and enjoyed being a part of the celebrations. MS Dhoni wished the Indian team on their World Cup win in their own style.

MS Dhoni played for CSK in IPL 2024. The side finished fifth on the table and could not qualify for the playoffs for just the third time in their history. They have been the most consistent side making it to the playoffs and Dhoni has helped the team win five titles, the most recent being the 2023 IPL win. Whether he will play in the IPL 2025 is not yet known.
