Former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha has backed Mumbai Indians opening batsman Rohit Sharma to turn his form around in IPL 2024 and perform well at the T20 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma has experienced a terrible IPL 2024 season not because he was sacked from captaincy but due to his inability to score runs with the bat. Although Rohit has scored more runs than he did last year, the current season hasn't gone according to his own level of batting.

While speaking to Cricbuzz after the Mumbai Indians lost by 18 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders, Virender Sehwag had slammed Rohit Sharma.

"Whoever bowls good, just play him out. If two wickets hadn't fallen, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav could've finished the match an over before. Vaibhav Arora, Mitchell Starc, Andre Russell and Harshit Rana had to ball anyway; if they played out the spinners and didn't lose the wickets, they would've won the game, Pragyan Virender Sehwag said via Cricbuzz.

Another reason behind Rohit Sharma's lean run of form could be the fact that he finds himself unsettled in the Mumbai Indians dressing room. He hasn't really been the same as before and he hasn't apparently enjoyed himself this season.

There are talks regarding him moving to the Kolkata Knight Riders or any other franchise in the next IPL edition in 2025. That's because of the messed up situation at the Mumbai Indians, which did not play under his captaincy for the first time since 2013.

2013 was the season when Rohit Sharma kicked off his IPL title-winning run. He had followed the 2013 title with a championship in 2015 then 2017 and twice consecutively in 2019 and 2020. It's been 4 seasons since MI last had their hands on the coveted title and it will be interesting to see if Hardik Pandya becomes only the second captain of the franchise to win the competition.

Amid Mumbai's poor IPL 2024 season and Rohit Sharma's lean batting form, Pragyan Ojha shared a tweet on X to support his former teammate. "Cheete Ki Chaal, Baaz Ki Nazar, Aur #rohirat Ke batsmanship Par Sandeh Nahi Karte," Ojha wrote on X.

Pragyan Ojha tried to say that the move of a Cheetah, the vision of an Eagle, and the batsmanship of Rohirat (Rohit and Virat) should never be doubted.

Rohit Sharma to begin preparation for T20 World Cup 2024 soon

Meanwhile, as the Mumbai Indians officially exited from IPL 2024 after last night's defeat, Rohit Sharma is expected to begin his preparation for the T20 World Cup soon. Rohit will also be joined by India vice-captain Hardik Pandya.
