Former England captain Michael Vaughan and commentator Harsha Bhogle lashed out at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for disrespecting MS Dhoni by not shaking hands with the legendary cricketer after Match 68 of the ongoing IPL 2024 between RCB and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Vaughan criticized the RCB players for their lack of awareness. The former England captain warned the RCB players that if they got to know later that it was Dhoni's last match in the IPL, then they would only regret their disrespectful behavior towards the CSK great.

Whereas, Bhogle blasted the RCB players for not showing respect to Dhoni, saying they should leave behind all the emotions and shake hands with the former CSK skipper before marching for the celebration of making it to the IPL 2024 playoffs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

MS Dhoni waited for RCB players but they ignored CSK legend

Actually, after RCB's qualification for the IPL 2024 playoffs, Dhoni was visibly seen as disheartened, as the defending champions lost the chance to defend their title. Despite his disappointment, the former Indian skipper gathered himself and made his way from the dugout to the boundary ropes to congratulate the RCB support staff and the players.

However, after a brief wait, Dhoni walked away, exchanging handshakes with the RCB support staff before disappearing into the CSK dressing room. This moment left everyone baffled, as India’s most successful and five-time IPL-winning legend deserved the respect of the players. Harsha and Vaughan launched a scathing attack on the RCB players for such behavior.

Bhogle and Vaughan believed that RCB players missed an opportunity to show respect to Dhoni, as it could have been his final outing in the IPL. However, the 42-year-old has not confirmed his future in the IPL, but CSK's elimination might have marked his retirement from the game.

Michael Vaughan and Harsha Bhogle lashed out at the RCB players

Harsha Bhogle said on Cricbuzz: “I haven’t seen pictures but it doesn't matter even if you win a World Cup, but you should leave behind all the emotions and shake hands. It's one of the great things about our game, because symbolic of the fact that now our antagonism is over, we did not give an inch to each other but it was just a game.”

On the other hand, Michael Vaughan said that he could understand the RCB players' behavior as they were desperate to qualify for the playoffs and wanted to win the Indian Premier League this time.

Michael Vaughan further said on Cricbuzz: "They have a lot of supporters but the team has also angered many. It was the time to show game awareness. I know RCB players were busy in celebrations but they should have gone to MS Dhoni to shake hands. We don't know, if that was MS Dhoni's last game and those players have run around the ground doing handstands when all they need to do is wait, 'the legend is over there.

We have to just go and shake his hand'. You shake hands and then do your cartwheels and stuff. They should have shown decency, as I wouldn't want to be an RCB player waking up tomorrow morning thinking MS Dhoni has just announced his retirement and we didn't have the decency to go and shake his hand first.”
