Former England captain Michael Vaughan rubbed salt into the Pakistani team's wounds which were caused by a fiery rant from new head coach Gary Kirsten.

The aftermath of team Pakistan's exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, was read out loud and clear by their new South African coach. Gary Kirsten well and truly blasted the Babar Azam-led side for having no unity or togetherness at all to be called a "Team". Not just that but in terms of their gameplay as well, Kirsten questioned some of the shot selection from the players.

The truth that was being hidden by the PCB and Babar Azam himself, came out from a head coach who has helped the Indian team win their 2nd World Cup. Gary Kirsten exposed the Pakistani team, claiming that the players don't support each other with everyone being separated due to their ego clashes.

Pakistan's situation is so bad that Gary Kirsten even admitted to never seeing such a team ever before in his coaching career. The South African has already sent out indications that this particular job will be one hell of a ride. Managing different characters in a dressing room is one thing and helping the players with the basic things.

"There's no unity in Pakistan's team. They call it a team, but it isn't a team. They aren't supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I've worked with many teams, but I've never seen such a situation. Players who improve in these areas will be included in the team; otherwise, they will be dropped." - Gary Kirsten said in an interview.

Michael Vaughan shares his two cents on Gary Kisten's comments

Micheal Vaughan, who is known for jumping into things for fun, supported Gary Kirsten's outburst in front of the media. Vaughan took to X (formerly Twitter) and reposted the former's statement about the Pakistani team having no sense of unity and togetherness.

The former England captain wrote that Gary Kirsten's words might be harsh but he gave a very blunt perspective of the team. Something that was evident but never spoken of. "Strong but I think very true from Gary Kirsten." - Michael Vaughan wrote on X.

Pakistan's trip to the USA and West Indies lasted for only 10 days, from the 6th to the 16th of June, featuring only in the Group stages. Babar Azam's side was out of contention for round 2 after losing back-to-back matches against co-hosts US and arch-rivals India. Losses in the first two matches of the World Cup is always a difficult setback to come back from and it also requires a bit of luck.

The same luck that they had in the 2022 T20 WC in Australia when they sneaked into the final after losing to India and Zimbabwe in the Groups.

So the Pakistani team has to do a lot of hard work behind the scenes to be able to once again challenge World cricket. After this T20 World Cup, all Gary Kirsten and his entourage will have to do is - make the right decisions even if that requires them to be bold or take a step back.
