Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq who was on the verge of being replaced ahead of the T20 World Cup is now likely to stay after the series win against West Indies. The Babar Azam-led side managed to pull off a rain-hit four-match T20I series 1-0 against the West Indies side and it is going to be a big confidence boost for them ahead of the T20 World cup.

Pakistan had a poor limited-overs stint against England and it brought down Misbah-ul-Haq’s coaching tenure came under scrutiny. Without the senior players being available, the England side won both the ODI and T20 series against the men in green and it doubted the whole team management to ahead with the T20 World cup coming up.

PCB Reveals The Reason Behind Misbah Being Monitored

The Pakistan cricket board mentioned that Misbah Ul Haq was in line to be reviewed as a head coach in white-ball formats especially after Pakistan’s poor performance in England. The board added that they felt the coaching experience of Misbah might not be adequate to take the team into the T20 World Cup.

“Basically, everyone was keen to see how Misbah managed the team in the T20 series in West Indies as calls grew for the PCB to review his position as head coach in white-ball formats.

“The feeling developed that perhaps Misbah was not the right man or didn’t have the coaching experience to take Pakistan into the T20 World Cup,” PCB reckoned.

PCB Sighs Difficulties In Taking A Decision On Misbah

The Pakistan Cricket Board felt that any decision on Misbah could be taken only after watching him for a longer time and one game in West Indies would not be enough to assess him. Also, that Pakistan has won the rain-affected series means that it will be difficult to replace Misbah at this point.

“But now since the T20 series in West Indies was badly disrupted by bad weather and three matches were abandoned it has become difficult for the board and cricket committee to make a final decision on Misbah’s future as white ball coach,” PCB added.
