During Lucknow Super Giants' clash against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on May 10, LSG's Mitchell Marsh achieved a significant feat for his franchise. Coming to the game itself, Marsh made just 10 runs in 10 balls, as Josh Inglis let all hell loose.

After Inglis fell through, LSG suffered a mini-collapse, but Shahbaz Ahmed made an important unbeaten 43 to drag LSG past 200. Noor Ahmad was economical while Jamie Overton was the pick of the CSK bowlers with three wickets.

Marsh achieved the feat of scoring 1,000 runs for Lucknow Super Giants. He became the fourth player to achieve this feat for the Sanjeev Goenka-owned franchise. KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Ayush Badoni got there before him.

Marsh achieved the feat in just 24 innings, making him the fastest of the four to achieve this feat for Lucknow Super Giants. By taking 24 innings to the milestone, Marsh also made IPL history by joining a list of batters who took the least number of innings to make 1,000 IPL runs for a given franchise.

Fastest to 1,000 runs for a single team in IPL (by innings)

1. Chris Gayle for RCB (20 innings)

Gayle joined RCB in 2011 as a replacement for the injured Dirk Nannes. Even though RCB replaced a bowler with a batter, Gayle took to the Bangalore like a fish to water. In his first-ever match for RCB, Gayle made a century against his former team, the Kolkata Knight Riders. Gayle is still the third-highest run-scorer for RCB in IPL history.

Gayle's 20th IPL innings for RCB was against Punjab Kings on May 2, 2012. Gayle blasted 71 runs from 42 balls, but RCB could only manage 158 after an excellent 3-wicket haul from Azhar Mahmood. Punjab Kings chased the target down with 4 wickets and 1 ball to spare.

2. Shaun Marsh for Punjab Kings (21 innings)

Despite being an uncapped player all the way back in 2008, Mitchell Marsh's brother, Shaun, took the IPL by storm. With 616 runs that season, he became the first player to win the Orange Cap.

Shaun Marsh is still Punjab Kings' second-highest run-getter of all time. He is also one of only two players to score over 2,000 runs for the franchise. Shaun's 21st innings for Punjab came while playing against the Mumbai Indians on May 2, 2011. PBKS's chase of 16 wasn't really going to plan.

While Marsh was all guns blazing at one end, Paul Valthaty was struggling at the other. Shaun Marsh tried to hold himself through the collapse, but his fighting knock of 61 runs in 47 balls went in vain.

3. Lendl Simmons for MI (23 innings)

Lendl Simmons arguably falls under the category of underrated when talking about certain aspects of the Mumbai Indians superteam of the mid-to-late 2010s.

Simmons was a consistent presence at the top of the order and played an underrated role in landing the 2015 IPL title for the Mumbai Indians.

Simmons reached the 1,000 run mark for the Mumbai Indians on May 6, 2017. Simmons made 66 from 43 balls, as he and fellow West Indian Kieron Pollard took MI to 212 against Delhi Capitals. Between them, DC managed exactly as many as Simmons to give MI an IPL record 146-run win.

3. KL Rahul for Punjab Kings (23 innings)

Rahul first joined PBKS in 2018 and also got to lead the franchise between 2020 and 2021. During these four years at the team, Rahul was practically a force of nature.

In three out of four seasons, Rahul exceeded the 600-run mark and fell just 7 short with 593 in 2019. Rahul reached 1,000 runs for Punjab Kings on 16 April 2019.

Punjab were playing the Rajasthan Royals on that day. Despite hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes, Rahul took 47 balls to score his 52 runs. His teammates managed to pick up the slack, mostly. Ultimately, the bowling unit did their jobs to give Punjab a narrow 12-run win.

4. Devon Conway for CSK (24 innings)

Conway originally joined the Chennai Super Kings in 2022 and took a few moments to find his feet. In 2023, he was the highest run-scorer for his team as CSK lifted a fifth IPL title. Conway had missed IPL 2024 because of an injury, but in 2025, he reached the 1,000-run mark for CSK. On April 8, 2025, Chennai faced the Punjab Kings.

Priyansh Arya's century had set CSK a target of 220. Conway was batting on 69 runs off 49 balls, and CSK needed 49 runs off 13 balls. Conway was then retired out to bring Ravindra Jadeja to the crease, but CSK ended 18 short.

4. KL Rahul for Delhi Capitals (24 innings)

After criticism of his strike rate in the preceding years, KL Rahul arrived at the Delhi Capitals in 2025 as a changed man. Over the last two years, he has significantly upped his strike rate and changed his approach to the game.

In his latest match for the franchise, against KKR on May 8, 2026, Rahul completed the milestone of 1,000 IPL runs for DC. Rahul got a decent start in that game, making 23 runs in 14 balls while his opening partner Pathum Nissanka exploded to make 50.

Delhi's middle order unfortunately came a cropper, and they managed just 142. Amazingly, KKR's Finn Allen made a century while chasing just 142.

4. Mitchell Marsh for LSG (24 innings)

As mentioned above, Mitchell Marsh reached the 1,000-run mark for Lucknow Super Giants on May 10, 2026. Against CSK, Marsh himself made 10 runs at a run-a-ball, but Josh Inglis in the powerplay and Shahbaz Ahmed at the death got LSG past 200.
