MLC 2024 schedule announced, tournament to begin on July 5

The schedule for the second edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) has been announced. The tournament will kick start from 5th July and the league this time will see six extra games as compared to last year following the success of the inaugural edition of the tournament. 

The six-team tournament will begin with a high-octane clash between Mumbai Indians New York and Seattle Orcas at Church Street Park in Morrisville. This will also be the rematch of last year's final, which was won by the Nicholas Pooran-led side. 

The Major League Cricket will be played across two venues in the United States of America. Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina, and the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas will be hosting the entire second edition of the tournament. 

The opening day of the Major League Cricket will see two games being played. After the game between Mumbai Indians New York and Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings will take on LA Knight Riders at the purpose-built Grand Prairie Stadium in Grand Prairie. 

The second day of the Major League Cricket will see Washington Freedom in the first game whereas San Francisco Unicorns will lock horns with LA Knight Riders on Sunday night at Grand Prairie Stadium. 

The playoffs of the Major League Cricket will begin from 24th July with Eliminator followed by Qualifier on 25th July. The Challenger will be played on the 26th and the final is scheduled to take place on the 28th of July.

Challenger: Date & Time: 07/26/2024, 07:30 PM CDT 

Teams: Loser of Qualifier vs. Winner of Eliminator

Location: Grand Prairie Stadium, Grand 

Final: Date & Time: 07/28/2024, 07:30 PM CDT

Teams: Winner of Qualifier vs. Winner of Challenger

Major League Cricket's CEO, Vijay Srinivasan talked about the announcement of the schedule, saying that they are excited for the the upcoming season and pointed out how big names are attracted to the league. He stated: 

"We are incredibly excited to unveil the schedule for the 2024 season. This promises to be our most thrilling season yet, with each of the MLC's six teams actively recruiting in the off-season, adding a host of world-class player signings to their team rosters with more big names to be soon announced. 

"With some of world cricket's biggest current stars and seasoned veterans involved, including the likes of athletic Jamaican allrounder Andre Russell, New Zealand's left-arm quick, Trent Boult, 2023 MLC Finals MVP Nicholas Pooran, Afghanistan's superstar spinner, Rashid Khan, together with cricketing royalty in coaches Ricky Ponting, Shane Watson and Stephen Fleming, it demonstrates the depth of talent being attracted to the league."
