Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has stated that his relationship with the Pakistan National Cricket Team is over. He has not featured for the Men in Green since the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies. He has not played domestic cricket for the country and only focuses on playing in the County and the ongoing The Hundred.
Mohammad Amir received his British passport a few months back, which makes him eligible to play T20 leagues across the world and also to play the County and the Hundred as a local player rather than overseas. Amir signed for Nottinghamshire in English domestic cricket and plays for Trent Rockets for this season of The Hundred.
Mohammad Amir shares update on playing for Pakistan again
Mohammad Amir, while speaking to Wisden, stated that his time with Pakistan Cricket is over, as he has not played for them for a long time, nor in domestic formats, apart from featuring in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He just wants to focus on playing County Cricket and The Hundred in England.
"My time with Pakistan cricket had come to an end. I wasn't playing domestic cricket anymore apart from the PSL, so I wanted a new challenge," he said. "Here, I can play proper county cricket and also feature in The Hundred. At this stage of my career, at 34-35, it felt like the perfect opportunity to come here, keep playing competitive cricket, and explore my game," he added.

Apart from speaking on his time on the Pakistan team, he also answered how England helps him as a bowler, as it suits his style of bowling with swing and movement off the pitch.
He stated, "That's that's the right I think right way to explain the conditions suits me. If I'm getting swing air as a swing bowler, I think I can be more effective here. It's like home home for me now. And if if you look at back look back, I'm coming to UK from I think 2007. So almost 19 years now every year I have to come in UK. So it's like a home for me now and in future also."
Mohammad Amir's career at a glance
Mohammad Amir started his career back in 2009 in the T20 World Cup in England against England. Amir claimed three wickets at an economy rate of 4.50 in his maiden ODI match against Sri Lanka. Amir was then involved in a spot-fixing controversy along with Mohammad Asif, as both deliberately bowled no-balls during Pakistan's 2010 tour of England in return for payment from the betting syndicate.
Amir made a comeback in 2016 and had a brilliant spell against India in the Asia Cup. He also dismantled the top order of the Men in Blue side in the ICC Champions Trophy final in 2017 and finished with the figures of 3/16 and helped the Men in Green win the CT for the first and only time.
