Mohammad Amir confirms spot-fixing in PSL involving Babar Azam, but there is a catch: A surprising discussion on a Live TV show has sparked fresh controversy around Pakistan cricket after the former fast bowler Mohammad Amir made a startling remark while talking about a possible battle with Babar Azam in the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026).

During the talk show, Mohammad Amir was requested by a fan to allow Babar Azam to hit three-four fours to regain his confidence during the upcoming PSL 2026 as he was thrown out of Pakistan’s white-ball teams following a disastrous T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.

Instead of dismissing the idea, Amir reacted in a relaxed and sporting manner. He promised that fan to allow Babar to hit him a couple of boundaries in the upcoming tournament.

However, the experienced pacer made it clear that he has great respect for Babar’s batting ability and even suggested that the star batter is capable of hitting boundaries against him anyway.

Mohammad Amir said on Geo TV’s show ‘Haarna Mana Hai’: “Done. I will lose the battle…. Done. Anyway, Babar can hit me for fours easily; he’s a great player.”

Ahmed Shehzad adds fuel to the fire

His response instantly went viral on social media. Well, the conversation became even more interesting when former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad joined in. It seems like Shehzad was saying the deal is done; Amir will intentionally lose some boundaries to Babar in PSL 2026.

He stressed that this time, Babar will win the battle, as last time Amir had given the former Pakistan captain a tough time in the Pakistan Super League.

Ahmed Shehzad said on the same show during the discussion: “This time when Babar faces Amir, Babar will win the battle.”

Meanwhile, Babar Azam was retained by Peshawar Zalmi for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League. On the other hand, Mohammad Amir has joined the new PSL side, Team Rawalpindi (Pindiz).

Speaking about their rivalry in the PSL, Amir has had the upper hand in this battle. The left-arm pacer has dismissed Babar three times in the league. During those encounters, Babar managed to score only 20 runs from 25 balls against Amir at a strike rate of 80, averaging just 6.66.

Amir slams Abhishek Sharma as “One-Dimensional”

On the other hand, Amir has yet again launched a scathing attack on Abhishek Sharma, calling the young Indian opener another “one-dimensional” player after another poor display in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal against England in Mumbai.

Amir said on Geo News: “Why is Sanju Samson performing? Because if you look at his background, first look at his technique, then look at his first-class career, then his IPL career, he can play all around the wicket. A one-dimensional player, as I said at the start, doesn't work in T20 anymore.”

He added, “You have to play all around. Look at Bethell's innings: when the spinner comes on, he is reverse-hitting him as well; off the first two balls, he hit two sixes to Varun Chakravarthy, and off the third ball, he hit a six with a reverse sweep. But now one-dimensional players simply cannot survive in cricket; you have to play in every direction. You need 360-degree players.”
