Star pacer Mohammad Amir sustained a hamstring injury during the Eliminator match in the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). However, Mohammad Amir expressed hope of recovering from the injury before the Qualifier 2 game on Friday.
Mohammad Amir is currently playing for the Jamaica Tallawahs franchise in the ongoing CPL 2023. The left-arm pacer opened the bowling attack in an ‘Eliminator match’ against the St. Lucia Kings after opting to bowl first at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Monday, September 19.
However, the 31-year-old pulled his hamstring and was forced to leave the field after bowling three balls in the opening over. He didn’t return to the field to bowl in the later stages of the game. He didn’t get a chance to bat, as his team secured a five-wicket victory.
CPL took to microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to provide Mohammad Amir’s injury news and wish him a speedy recovery.
“Worrying signs for the Tallawahs as Mohammad Amir has to come off the field with an injury without the first over being completed. We wish him a speedy recovery,” reads the caption.

Mohammad Amir has been impressive with the ball in the ongoing six-team tournament. The pacer is the second joint wicket-taker, picking up 15 wickets in nine matches at an average of 12.80 and an economy rate of 6.62. He registered best figures of 4/19 against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
The left-arm pacer retired from international cricket in 2020, citing a lack of opportunities with the Pakistan National Cricket Team. However, there are speculations that he will come out of retirement to replace Naseem Shah in the squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
