Mohammad Amir has disagreed with his former teammate Mohammad Hafeez’s recent remarks about Virat Kohli. Hafeez recently caused a stir by criticizing Kohli for his batting approach after his century against South Africa at the Eden Gardens last Sunday.

On a tough where South Africa were bowled out for just 83, Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 101 runs. After India lost both of their openers inside the first ten overs, Kohli played the role of anchor to perfection. He stood firm at one end and mixed caution with aggression to keep the hosts in contention for a big total.

In the end, India finished with a competitive total of 326 for 5. Kohli’s unbeaten 101-run knock came off 121 balls and contained 10 fours. In the last ten overs of the innings, Kohli faced 26 balls and scored 26 runs. The right-handed batsman, who missed a few opportunities to score centuries earlier in the competition, played cautiously against South Africa as he hit only two fours in the last ten overs.

After the knock, Hafeez criticized Kohli’s approach, saying: “I saw a sense of selfishness in Virat Kohli’s batting and this happened for the third time in this World Cup. In the 49th over, he was looking to take a single to reach his own hundred and he didn’t put the team first.”

Mohammad Amir on Mohammad Hafeez’s comment for Virat Kohli:

Mohammad Hafeez’s comment about Kohli has not gone down well with many. Ex-England captain Michael Vaughan has been constantly taking shots at Hafeez for criticising the India star. And Mohammad Amir has also taken a dig at Hafeez for the same.

In a TV show, one fan asked the ex-Pakistan pace spearhead to share his views on Hafeez’s comment. In reply, Mohammad Amir took a dig at Hafeez who is fondly called professor by his teammates and fans, saying: “He is a professor, he can say anything.”

Meanwhile, Kohli has been in sensational form in the World Cup. In 8 games so far, he has scored 543 runs at an average of 109 with the help of two centuries and four half-centuries.
