Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that Virat Kohli has evolved into a more balanced and thoughtful player over the years. Virat Kohli, who was once known for his fiery attitude, now looks calmer and more composed, which is reflected in his smarter decisions both on and off the field.

Kaif believes that this change comes from maturity and a deeper understanding of the game that has developed with time. The former Indian batter, who has known Kohli since his early days, pointed out that marriage and fatherhood have brought stability to the former captain’s life.

Mohammad Kaif said on his YouTube channel, “Virat Kohli has become a bit calm now. There is a lot of difference between how he was before marriage and how he is after marriage.”

Kaif recalled an interesting moment from an IPL match when the dashing right-handed batter calmly discussed his plan against fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. Kohli told him that attacking early was a tactical move to put pressure on the Proteas bowler, showing how much his game sense has improved. Kaif said Kohli’s “understanding of cricket has improved with calmness.”

The commentator further noted, “He told me that if I had not attacked Rabada early on, he would not have let me play. So, I wanted to hit him off the first ball.”

The former India player also praised Kohli’s humility, saying that despite his achievements, he has not changed as a person. He still treats his former teammates with the same warmth and respect he did years ago. Kaif added that Kohli’s hunger to keep improving sets him apart, and even after making so many records, he still works hard to improve his game and look for ways to get better.

Kaif said, “He still meets me the same way even now. If he called you a brother before, he will call you a brother now as well. When you meet him off the field, he will remember that he has played with you and will give you that respect. There is no change there.”

Kohli’s recent performances show that his mindset remains as strong as ever. After getting out for back-to-back ducks against Australia, the dashing right-handed batter bounced back with a stunning unbeaten 74 in the final ODI, proving his ability to handle setbacks calmly.

Mohammad Kaif reveals why Virat Kohli has not yet signed the RCB deal

Speaking about Kohli’s future with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL, Kaif mentioned that the former captain is taking a wait-and-watch approach due to possible ownership changes. Kohli hasn’t yet signed the new commercial deal, and the former Indian batter feels the RCB icon may want to see how things shape up with the new owner.

He signed off by saying, “There are rumors that the next season might not have the RCB name. Virat Kohli did not sign the commercial contract, as he was waiting to see what direction the new owners would take.”
