Former India player Mohammad Kaif feels that India has the best chance to win the T20 World Cup 2024 when they face South Africa in the final on June 29. According to Kaif, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might be playing their last World Cup together and it could be fitting if India lifts the title this time around.

While India captain Rohit Sharma has been in good form and has led the team from the front, Virat Kohli is having a tournament to forget in terms of runs. Rohit has scored 248 runs in seven matches so far at an average of 41.33 and a strike rate of 155.97.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has scored just 75 runs so far at an average of 10.71. Kohli has a fabulous record in T20 World Cup history, where he still leads the run-scoring charts. But Rohit Sharma has closed in and is just 5 runs behind him.

Mohammad Kaif backs Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to lift T20 World Cup 2024 title

While speaking on Star Sports, Mohammad Kaif backed India to lift the title and claimed that the Men in Blue wouldn't get a better chance to lift the trophy again.

"The age of both the players (Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma) is very similar. So, we don't actually know when they will play a World Cup together for the next time. This is a great time when both of these players are in good form. Although Kohli hasn't scored runs in this tournament, but his past 2-3 years have been excellent," Kaif stated.

Kaif hailed Rohit Sharma for setting an example of how to play in big games. He also felt that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have played Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje several times, so they'll know what to expect from them.

"Rohit Sharma has set an example of how to play use powerplay restrictions in big games. He scored runs in the quarter-finals (last Super 8 game against Australia) and semi-finals (against England). Both the players have played Rabada and Nortje several times. So, I don't think that India will get such a chance again," the former India cricketer said.

South Africa a tough side to beat

Although India has been in good form of late, getting past South Africa won't be easy for the Rohit Sharma-led side. South Africa have quality bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje in their team who can dismantle any batting order on their day.

They also have world-class batters like Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, and David Miller in their team, who are vastly experienced and can take the game away from the opposition.

It will be a stern test for Team India but Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be determined to lift the trophy this time around.
