Mohammad Rizwan, Cameron Green And Axar Patel Nominated For ICC Men’s Player Of The Month Award For September 2022

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, announced the three nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month award for September 2022. The three nominees for the award are Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green And Indian spinner Axar Patel.

The No.1 T20I batter in ICC Men’s Player Rankings, Rizwan has dominated the shortest format of the game in 2022 as well, after having a bumper 2021, when he became the only batter to score over 1000 runs in a calendar year.

In the 10 games that he played last month, Rizwan scored seven fifties which included a couple of 70s against Hong Kong and India in Asia Cup. He scored one more fifty in the tournament. Then in the first five T20Is of the seven-match series against England, he registered four scores of 60+ to help his side take a 3-2 lead, finishing with 316 runs at an average of 63.20 while going at 138.60.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is having a brilliant 2022, as he started September by scoring 89* in 1st ODI against New Zealand to help his team win. He then excelled in the three T20Is against India and while opening the batting, scored two fifties. This included 61 off 30 laced with eight fours and four sixes while Australia chased down 209 runs to win and added a 21-ball 52 in the third and final T20I.

Axar Patel picked 3/17 in the match where Australia chased 209 runs and then in a rain-reduced second T20I, he bowled 2 overs for 2/13. in the final game, he broke two crucial partnerships with the wickets of Aaron Finch and Josh Inglis before removing the dangerous Matthew Wade and finished with 8 wickets in the series.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana And Nigar Sultana Nominees For Women’s Player Of The Month For September 2022

On the other hand, India’s Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana and Bangladesh’s Nigar Sultana were nominated for the Women’s Player of the Month award for September 2022.

Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front as he helped India whitewash England 3-0 in the ODI series in their own home. She finished as the highest run-getter with 221 runs at an average of 221 and a strike rate of 103.27. She scored 74* and 143* in the ODIs.

Smriti Mandhana was the Player of the Match in India’s only win in the T20I series with a blistering 79* off 53 balls. She was the highest run-scorer for India in the series with 111 runs at an average of 55.50 while striking at 137.03. She also made 181 runs with two scores of 50+ in the ODI series.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana helped her team finish as Champions of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022. She hit 67 as Bangladesh beat Ireland in the first match. She top-scored her team in the modest chase of 78 against Scotland and followed it up with an unbeaten 56 off 40 against the USA.
