“Mohammad Rizwan Doesn't Need To Change His Plan” – Shahid Afridi Gives Advice To Star Batter Amid Criticism Over T20I Strike Rate

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Shahid Afridi has come up with advice for star wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan amid criticism over his strike rate in the T20Is.

Mohammad Rizwan is the No.1 ranked batter in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. In the first T20I match of the tri-series involving Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand, the Pakistan National Cricket Team were invited to bat first.

Opener Mohammad Rizwan batted the entire innings and scored unbeaten 78 runs off 50 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. Pakistan’s middle-order batting unit once again failed in the match, however, they were able to post 167/5 on the board.

Chasing the target, Bangladesh National Cricket Team were able to score only 146 runs and they lost the match by 21 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Rizwan was awarded Player of the Match for his half-century at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch. However, he faced criticism from fans and pundits for his strike rate in the match.

There’s no need for Mohammad Rizwan to listen to anyone – Shahid Afridi

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team all-rounder Shahid Afridi advised Rizwan to ignore the outside noises and not to make any changes to his batting plans.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re batting or bowling, the start is the main thing. Rizwan and Babar are giving you good starts. But only one or two players can’t make a team, there are 11 players out there.

“Six batsmen are playing, and you’d expect at least three to score,” Afridi said during a conversation on Samaa TV.

“Rizwan doesn’t need to change his plan. There’s no need for him to listen to anyone,” Afridi further stated.
