Indian cricket umpire Anil Chaudhary talked about the unwanted appeals of Pakistan National Cricket Team keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan. He said that the Pakistan batter keeps jumping like pigeons and subtly took a dig at him, calling him a loser.
Pakistan National Cricket Team wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan is undoubtedly one of the most animated characters on the field. The right-hander consistently makes energetic appeals behind the stumps, almost always going up when the ball passes the bat.
Mohammad Rizwan often has been also criticized for this as well. Many fans and pundits have slammed the keeper-batter for making unnecessary appeals. There also have been many instances when he has even wasted DRS many times for his team.
Rizwan has been one of the decent batters for the Pakistan National Cricket Team in all three formats. He also has been doing a decent job for the team behind the stumps as well. But one thing that he needs to improve is his appeal and DRS calls behind the stumps.
Umpire Anil Chaudhary in a video shared on ‘2 Sloggers’ YouTube channel, was asked whether he ever umpired in a match where Rizwan played. Although, at first, officials didn't recognize it, he came up with an incident from Asia Cup where Rizwan kept appealing repeatedly.
Anil Chaudhary talked about how he told his fellow umpire to take care of it because Mohammad Rizwan was appealing for every ball. He stressed that Pakistan batsmen need to understand that technology has evolved. He explained:
"He appeals a lot. I even told my fellow umpire to stay aware. Har ball pe chilla hai (He keeps shouting on every ball). Isn't he the one who puts something like a lipstick? He keeps jumping like a pigeon. See, the fact is a good umpire knows who is a good keeper. If the umpire is good, these keepers are losers.
"Aur itna technology aa gaya hai, kyun apna beizatti karwa rahein ho? Ulta seedha nikla jayega, toh log aap hi ka mazak udayenge (When technology has evolved so much, why do you have to make yourself look bad? People tend to make fun of such things)."
Mohammad Rizwan plays a key role for Pakistan in the first Test against Bangladesh
Rizwan is currently part of the Pakistan team for the ongoing Test match against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The first Test between the teams is underway at the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, and the keeper-batter has made a massive impact.
Mohammad Rizwan ended with an innings of unbeaten 171 runs off 239 balls. He slammed 11 fours and sixes in his innings, batting with a strike rate of around 73. His innings ensured that Pakistan went past 400 runs as the hosts ended their first innings on 448/6. Apart from his heroics with the bat he has been sensational behind the stumps as well as he has taken quite a few superb catches.
