Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly written to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). According to Pakistan-based outlet Geo News, Rizwan raised several questions about the ongoing inquiry into alleged dressing-room leaks and financial matters.
Pakistan suffered a 3-0 Test series whitewash in England. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sent Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, and five other players home midway through the tour. The board’s security department also seized the players’ electronic devices and handed them to federal cybercrime authorities.
Mohammad Rizwan Questions NCCIA Summoning and Withheld Mobile Phone
Mohammad Rizwan was questioned by National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency officials for around two hours last Tuesday. Investigators also examined his mobile phone as part of an inquiry into alleged dressing-room leaks and other matters linked to Pakistan’s tour of England.
According to Geo News, Rizwan has now written to the NCCIA seeking clarity on why he was summoned and why his phone has not been returned. He also questioned the reason for his appearance before the agency.
“Why was I called by the NCCIA? I want to know for what reason you are calling me,” Rizwan wrote in his letter, according to the report.
Rizwan and fellow batter Imam-ul-Haq were questioned during the inquiry, while their phones were seized. A separate report by Samaa TV said Rizwan had cooperated with the investigation and planned to issue a statement once the matter became clearer.
NCCIA Probes Alleged Dressing-Room Leaks and Financial Dealings
The investigation reportedly covers alleged dressing-room information leaks during the England tour. The report also claimed that the PCB is examining financial dealings involving Rizwan and Imam.
Investigators are reportedly conducting forensic checks of the seized phones, including messages, contacts, and other digital information. However, these remain reported allegations, and the NCCIA has not officially established any wrongdoing by Rizwan.
Rizwan and Imam were among seven players sent home midway through the tour. Pakistan went on to suffer a 3-0 Test series defeat. The PCB also removed head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul from the touring setup during the series.
Mohammad Rizwan’s Pakistan Career Faces Fresh Uncertainty
Mohammad Rizwan has established himself as one of Pakistan’s most experienced white-ball batters. He has scored consistently across formats and has played a key role at the top of Pakistan’s T20I and ODI batting orders.
The 34-year-old has played 47 Tests, 103 ODIs and 106 T20Is for Pakistan. His next opportunity will depend on the selectors’ plans and his performances when he returns to competitive cricket. A strong run of form could help him push for a recall, particularly in the limited-overs formats.
Pakistan’s men’s team will next be in action at the 2026 Asian Games, where they are scheduled to play their men’s T20I quarter-final on September 28 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. Their opponent will be confirmed based on the results of the preliminary round.
Pakistan will then host Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series in October. The first T20I will be played in Rawalpindi on October 9, followed by the second on October 11 and the third on October 13.
