Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has admitted that the man who abused him was a Pakistani and not an Indian. Rauf was recently involved in a confrontation with a man on the road where he was seen shouting and abusing violently.

The video has been circulating on social media, in which Rauf was walking with his wife in the USA and talking to a few people. After a few moments, he rushed across the hedge aggressively towards the man. One of the men from that group tried to stop Rauf as some were pushing and shoving as well.

After some time, Haris Rauf was taken back where his wife was but the finger-pointing and shouting didn't quite stop. During the altercation, Haris was also heard saying, "Indian hai yeh (He is Indian)."

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi also took the matter seriously and responded with a tweet. "Strongly condemn the appalling incident involving Haris Rauf. Such actions against our players are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Those who are involved must immediately apologize to Haris Rauf, failing which we will pursue legal action against the individual responsible," Naqvi tweeted on X.

After the confrontation, Rauf put up a tweet on social media saying that he would not tolerate anything against his family and parents. Later, Rauf also confirmed that the man who abused him was a Pakistani, not an Indian.

The report was confirmed by Pakistani TV host and news anchor Waseem Badami during a show on ARY News channel. According to Waseem Badami, Rauf said those words mistakenly, and it was proved later.

Haris Rauf had a decent tournament in the T20 World Cup 2024 as he picked up 7 wickets in four matches at an average of 14.42 and an economy rate of 6.73. He was Pakistan's joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament along with Mohammad Amir.

Unfortunately, Pakistan bowed out of the tournament after the group stage and failed to qualify for the Super Eight stage. The Men in Green had a disappointing tournament with defeats to the USA and India in their opening two games.

Although they won their next two matches against Canada and Ireland, that wasn't enough for them to qualify for the Super Eights. The loss to the USA was a particularly shocking one as Pakistan lost the match in the Super Over despite being highly experienced than their opponents at this level.

Haris Rauf has been in the news in the past few months for the wrong reasons. His central contract was terminated by the PCB on February 15 this year as he made himself unavailable for Pakistan's away Test series against Australia last year.

But he got back his contract on March 24 as Mohsin Naqvi termed the episode as a misunderstanding.
