Legendary Pakistan batter Mohammad Yousuf stepped down from the PCB selection committee in a surprising manner. While Yousuf had earlier stated that he was resigning from the role due to personal reasons, the real reason is something else.

Yousuf was one of the five voting members of the PCB selection committee. He announced his decision through social media and reasoned it as "personal reasons."

"I announce my resignation as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team due to personal reasons. Serving this incredible team has been a profound privilege, and I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket," Yousuf posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Real reason behind Mohammad Yousuf's resignation revealed

It is believed that Mohammad Yousuf did not resign due to personal reasons. According to Cricket Pakistan, there were disagreements between Mohammad Yousuf and one of the team's coaches over the inclusion of a few players in the squad.

Yousuf wanted the new players like Zahid Mahmood, Mohammad Ali, and Kamran Ghulam to be given opportunities. He advocated the need to include fresh faces in the team rather than continuing with the established players.

However, the coach did not want such changes in the squad and wanted some continuity within the team. He quickly expressed his concerns about chopping and changing as it can affect the team's momentum.

As a result, there were tensions over the selection of players and the contract management between Mohammad Yousuf and the coach.

Mohammad Yousuf's disagreements with Pakistan coach

According to the report, Mohammad Yousuf proposed the Test opener Abdullah Shafique to be given a break to work on his technique. However, the coach was not in favor of the decision of Shafique being given a break. Shafique is also in Pakistan's squad for the Tests against England.

The disagreements did not go down well and Yousuf had to put down his paper from this role. The Pakistan Cricket Board has already accepted his resignation.

Pakistan's next international assignment is the Test series against England starting on October 7. Pakistan will host England for a three-match Test series. The first two Tests will be played in Multan and the final Test will be held in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan cricket has been going through tough times for the past year or so. Recently, the team was eliminated from the group stage of the T20 World Cup and then lost a Test series to Bangladesh at home.
