India star Mohammed Shami has registered himself for the IPL 2025 mega auction at a base price of INR 2 crore. The right-arm pacer has not played any international game since November 2023 due to an ankle injury but is likely to earn a lucrative contract in the auction.
Shami suffered an ankle injury during the ODI World Cup where he starred with the ball. He finished the competition as the highest wicket-taker as India made it to the final. The veteran pacer had to undergo surgery and remained on the sidelines for almost a year.
He made his much-awaited return to competitive cricket this month through the Ranji Trophy. In his comeback game, Shami picked up 7 wickets against Madhya Pradesh while playing for Bengal.
In the IPL, Shami played for Gujarat Titans in 2022 and 2023 before missing the 2024 season. In 2022, he picked up 20 wickets before taking 28 wickets in 2023. Apart from the Titans, Shami has also plied his trade for Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings in the IPL.
