Mohammed Shami breaks silence on knee injury reports and his BGT 2024-25 participation

India National Cricket Team fast bowler Mohammed Shami has lashed out at the reports which suggested that he has been ruled out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He stated that he has been doing his best to be fully fit and urged people to not trust the fake news.

On Wednesday (2nd October), media reports suggested that the India National Cricket Team have faced a massive blow. It was learned that Mohammed Shami has faced a fresh knee injury and has been ruled out for at least 6-8 weeks, meaning that he is doubtful for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

The reports claimed that Mohammed Shami had suffered a swollen knee. It was made public, saying that the BCCI source himself has confirmed the same.

However, with reports of Shami's new injury giving Indian fans a scare, the pacer rubbished off all the reports. He took to his X account and came with the clarification that all the reports that are being circulated are fake.

Shami while lashing out at reports claimed that neither BCCI of himself has confirmed about his injury and that all the reports are baseless. He made a strong statement, saying that people should stop circulating fake news. He elaborated:

"Why these type of baseless rumors? I'm working hard and trying my level best to recover. Neither the BCCI nor me have mentioned that I am out of the Border Gavaskar series. I request the public to stop paying attention to such news from unofficial sources. Please stop and don’t spread such fake fake fake & fake news, especially without my statement."

Mohammed Shami might make a comeback in the New Zealand Tests

In a fresh set of reports, as per Times of India, it is learned that Mohammed Shami might make a comeback in the upcoming Test series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The Rohit Sharma-led will be hosting Kiwis in the three-match series, starting 16th October

Shami, who has been out of action since the end of the ICC World Cup 2024, has been putting in hard yards at the NCA. The fast bowler has also resumed bowling in the nets, and the reports claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India is targeting New Zealand series as his return to cricket after a while.

The return of Mohammed Shami will be a massive boost for the India National Cricket Team. Not only for the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand, the pacer will be crucial for the team going into the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which will be played in November-December and January.
