India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami has become the talk of the town since the last day. This is because he wasn't in the playing XI for the first T20I against the England National Cricket Team, which took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (22nd January).

Mohammed Shami, who played his last match for India in the ICC World Cup 2023, was all set to make his comeback in the ongoing T20I series against the England National Cricket Team. He was included in the team so that he would regain his rhythm ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Mohammed Shami bowled for close to half an hour at the side nets ahead of the first T20I

It was almost certain that with Mohammed Shami being declared fit, he would be making his comeback in the first T20I. However, it was a massive surprise when the pacer wasn't part of the XI despite him being training consistently with the team for the last few days.

Shami bowled for close to half an hour at the side nets ahead of the game. Even though, he still has a strapping on his left knee, the fast bowler had bowled full tilt at the India nets in all their sessions before the first match of the series against the England National Cricket Team.

Mohammed Shami experienced a hint of unease came when he walked back to the dressing room.

The reports in PTI claimed that although Shami seems fit. He bowled in full throttle without the attention of the medical team even though he had to strap around his knees. But it is learned that a hint of unease came when he walked back to the dressing room.

Shami moved cautiously as he took measured steps, seemingly mindful of his left leg. The India National Cricket Team fast bowler's injury doesn't seem serious and it is expected that he might play some part in the upcoming four games of the T20I series.

Mohammed Shami has been named in the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The India National Cricket Team pacer will be key for his team in the tournament and the management would be hoping that he regains his full fitness ahead of the event, which will be played in February.

India won the first T20I against England by the margin of 7 wickets

Coming to the first T20I between India National Cricket Team and England National Cricket Team, the hosts won the game by the margin of 7 wickets. They bundled out the Jos Buttler-led side for 132 runs and then chased the target inside 13 overs to go 1-0 up in the series.

The next match of the series is all set to be played on Saturday (25th January) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It remains to be seen if Mohammed Shami will be part of the team for the match or not.
