Indian speedster Mohammed Shami has been granted bail in the domestic violence case that was filed by his estranged wife Hasin Jahan against him. The lower court in Kolkata on Tuesday (19th September) announced the decision, giving bail to the pacer and his brother Mohammed Hasib, who was also accused in the case, as per IANS.

Mohammed Shami along with his brother Hasib visited the lower court and their lawyer put forward the petition to grant them bail. The court, however, accepted that, and the cricketer along with his brother was set free.

Hasin Jahan, who used to be a cheerleader in IPL, first accused Mohammad Shami of domestic abuse and adultery in 2018. She filed a police complaint in Jadavpur and even accused him of match-fixing.

Even though, the fast bowler denied all the allegations, he and his brother were questioned by the police and the court issued an arrest warrant against the fast bowler.

However, Mohammad Shami got a clean chit from the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and the arrest warrant was quashed, which to some extent silenced the case. Earlier this year, the fast bowler was asked to give monthly alimony of Rs 50,000, which Hasin Jahan wasn’t happy with as she demanded Rs 10 lakh.

Mohammed Shami to be next seen in action against Australia

Mohammed Shami has been named in the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. The pacer was part of the team in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. He didn’t get much opportunity in the tournament as Mohammed Siraj was preferred over him.

Mohammed Shami played two games in the Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal and Bangladesh and did a reasonable job. He also has been named in the Indian squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.

With the quality and the experience that he brings in, he’s likely to play a vital role against Australia as well as in the World Cup. The three-match ODI series against Australia will begin on September 22 in Mohali. The second game will take place on September 24 in Indore. The last game of the series is slated to take place on 27th September.
