The timeline to see India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami back in action is about to end. The star pacer is all set to make his comeback after a long injury through the Ranji Trophy 2025 for his state team Bengal as he might play the first few games.

As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, Mohammed Shami has been included in the 31-member probables for the Bengal squad for the upcoming domestic season.

Earlier there were reports in PTI, which stated that the fast bowler might feature in the first two games for Bengal against Uttar Pradesh from 11th October and Bihar from 18th October.

The target set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly to make Mohammed Shami fully fit before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

There were rumors that the fast bowler might play in the Duleep Trophy 2024 and then make his India return through the Test series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team, starting 19th September.

However, in a fresh set of reports, it was reported that the Ranji Trophy will be the window that will see Shami making his comeback. After he proves his fitness in the domestic circuit, the fast bowler then will be making his comeback for the India National Cricket Team in the New Zealand series, which will be played in October.

Mohammed Shami might also play in 4-day games for India A in Australia

The fast bowler might also play the 4-day games for India A in Australia ahead of the main Test series. The A-Team will be playing two games down under and it will be a great preparation for Mohammed Shami to get in the groove ahead of the all-important Test series against the Pat Cummins-led side.

Along with Shami, his brother, Mohammed Kaif, also finds a place in the Bengal probables for the Ranji Trophy. Wriddhiman Saha also has been included. He left Bengal to play for Tripura in domestic cricket last season. However, now is back for his state team.

Shami has been working hard at the NCA and is making great progress in his recovery from an ankle injury. He is in the final stage of his rehabilitation and also resumed bowling last month after the prolonged injury. The trainers there also will be increasing his workload.

India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been out of the action ever since the ICC World Cup 2023 concluded.

He underwent an operation on his right Achilles tendon in February and missed a lot of action for the India National Cricket Team even the T20 World Cup 2024, which Men in Blue won.

During the media interaction a few months back, Shami himself stated that he would be playing a few games for Bengal first before making the international comeback. The fast bowler will be extremely important for the Indian team, especially with the big Test series around the corner.
