India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami has slammed fake reports claiming his Test retirement. He called out the journalist, saying that he should count the days that are remaining in his job as it was the most woeful story of the day.

India National Cricket Team fast bowler's comments came on his Instagram account when he shared the screenshot of the report on his story and slammed the journalist. The report targeted the pacer, hinting at his possible retirement from the longest format of the game.

It was written that after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, it is now Mohammed Shami who will make the decision. It also mentioned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors may drop the pacer from the England series due to his fitness.

You should count the days that are remaining in your job - Mohammed Shami destroys fake news

Slamming the reports, Mohammed Shami said that reports should say something good about the players and warned the journalist, saying that this was the worst story of the day. Taking to his Instagram account, he said:

"Very well done, Maharaj. Apna job ke din bhi ginloo kitna adieu hai. Badme dekhle humara aap. Jaise ne satyinaash kar diya future ka. Kabhi toh accha bol liya kare. Aaj ka sabse kharab story sorry (You should count the days that are remaining in your job. You should say something nice sometimes. This is the most woeful story of the day)."

BCCI unhappy with the fitness of Mohammed Shami, pacer not an automatic selection for ENG tour - Reports

Of late, there have been some reports that have claimed that BCCI is unhappy with the fitness of Mohammed Shami, especially after his injury. The reports added that he isn't the sure-shot pick for the England series as he hasn't been the same as he was before his injury.

Mohammed Shami missed cricketing action for more than one year after he faced an ankle injury during the ICC World Cup 2023. He made his return earlier this year in the white-ball series against England, but it's fair to say that since then, he hasn't been as threatening as he was.

Mohammed Shami played a decent role for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Mohammed Shami played a decent role for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and is now playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2025. But the fast bowler has looked horrible in the league as he has been very expensive and has also been struggling to pick wickets.

Mohammed Shami is expected to be part of the Indian team for the Test series against England. The fast bowler so far has played 229 wickets at an average of 27.71. His last Test was the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at the Oval in June 2023.
