India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami is likely to make his return to international cricket through the upcoming Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, it is learned the India team is hopeful that the fast bowler will be fit for the home Test series.

Mohammed Shami reportedly has been making considerable progress in his recovery from an ankle injury. The BCCI selectors are impressed with the way the fast bowler is recovering, and there are even chances that he might feature in one of the Duleep Trophy games to prove his fitness ahead of the International comeback. The selectors soon will be deciding on this.

Mohammed Shami is in the final stage of his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The fast bowler had resumed bowling last month after the prolonged injury. According to the reports in ESPNCricinfo, his bowling workload is slowly getting built after being pain-free.

India Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar also recently provided an update about Mohammed Shami. He also mentioned that the Test series against Bangladesh was always the goal for a fast bowler's comeback, and the timeline related to his comeback will be decided by the NCA.

Recently, Shami himself announced that he would be playing a few games in the Bengal jersey first before making the international comeback. The fast bowler will be extremely important for the Indian team, especially with a few Test series around the corner.

India will be playing two Tests against Bangladesh and three against New Zealand before touring for a five-match Test series against Australia. If Shami misses a few home games, he will be getting ample time to be completely fit for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year.

Before the Australia tour, there are a lot of games for Mohammed Shami to get back in rhythm even if he misses both the Test series at home. Ranji Trophy will be played in October, and after that, India's A team will also play two first-class games in Australia from October 31.

Mohammed Shami played last for India in World Cup 2023

Mohammed Shami was last seen in action during the ICC World Cup 2023. However, after that tournament his ankle injury, which he experienced during the World Cup matches, got serious. He was ruled out of the two-match Test series against South Africa despite being named in the squad.

Shami then underwent an operation on his right Achilles tendon in February and has doing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy. Since the last few months, the fast bowler has put in a lot of hard work to make his comeback and is likely to be declared fit soon.

India will be hosting Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. The first Test will be played from 19th September in Chennai and the second game will take place from 27th September in Kanpur. The red-ball series is likey to mark Shami's comeback and it will be a huge boost for Team India.
